Someone for Everyone?

posted on January 20, 2009 in Ramblings

I find it odd yet amazingly comforting to know that one of those “weird” kids from my old elementary school is married and happy.

Often times in the fast tracking of the world, people lose any kind of belief and faith that there is someone for everyone.  I don’t believe that there is, I must say.  But, it is very comforting to know that someone whom I always thought would be alone, found someone.

Even though I don’t speak to this individual and haven’t for a number of years, I almost want to just to congratulate the happy couple on this (even though this happened a long, long time ago and I am slow to catch on).

Then again, verifiable proof that this can happen to anyone is no matter how many faults I have (a plenty), I have someone by my side right now that I think is willing to stick with me for awhile thru all the goods and the bads.  Not just any girl either, a perfectly compatible halve of my life.  And that my friends, is the best feeling in the world.

Time for the first BEER of the YEAR

posted on January 1, 2009 in Ramblings

Well, another year has passed.  Pretty nuts to consider that it really is the year it is….seems like the 90’s were just a hop-skip-and a jump backwards in time and not really 10 years ago.

New Years was fun.  Working New Years Day..slightly less fun.

New Years Resolutions (or Goals)

-Get back in the great shape I was in during 2007 and the first half of 2008.
-Stop eating such crappy foods…yes that means you pizza and burgers.  Drink less pop too.
-Be safe, continue to support the great friends that I have, and build onto all of my relationships to make them even stronger.

I started today by eating pizza and drinking Kool-Aid.  Not quite what I had in mind as far as the beginnings to a healthy year.  I did go for a run though, albeit shorter than my normal runs.  The pizza did a number on my insides and my toilet unfortunately felt the wrath for that.  Then after the run, I showered, paid my rent, and drank two cans of pop in one sitting.  Yet again, not a good start.

Oh, and I have yet to have a beer this year.  Better go get on that one right now, I hear the first beer of the year is the best!

December Sucks

posted on December 20, 2008 in Uncategorized

Christmas brings all the horrible drivers out to annoy me.  On top of that, buying presents for people seems dumb as in the end, with what you get in return, you about hit even.  So why go to all that trouble and just spend the money on yourself?

Plus, I know that family is important and what not, but why can’t Christmas just be a holiday to be with family, eat dinners together and watch reindeer movies, but cut out of the gift giving?  I’d like that 100% better than the current “tradition” of consumerism.

In other news, I do like the Christmas coke cans.  I need a vacation.

Watery Beer

Why is it that domestic macrobreweries can’t make a decent beer?

Personally, I almost never buy your normal beer - Bud Light, Miller, etc. etc.  It just tastes bad and gives beer a bad name.  But, if I am having people over, I am not one apt to sharing my $2 a bottle expensive beer, and sometimes not even my favorite and always on supply Boulevard Wheat.  So, I buy some cheap stuff.  For the longest time I considered Miller Lite to be better than Bud Light, as it seemed to have more flavor.  I am now going back on this statement.  I don’t think Bud Light is any better necessarily, its just that Miller Lite is so watery tasting and flavorless than I can’t stand to even drink one myself.

Maybe I will swing back to Bud Light.  Or I could go ultra cheap and start buying PBR.  At least PBR has some flavor to it, and reminds me of the good ole days of when I was too dumb to know what “good beer” was.

Note to macrobreweries of America: Stop making cruddy water-beer and introduce something with some flavor.  No wonder people hate America.

[Side mention: not all American beer is bad.  I love American beer.  I am only complaining about the big macrobreweries that sell really crappy excuses for beer.  Good microbrewed stuff, or speciality drafts are a different story and are fantastic.  Check out Bouvelard's products if you don't believe me.  That stuff is great!]

Left 4 Dead Makes Me Happy

posted on November 21, 2008 in Horror!, Video Games

Its about damn time there is a video game that is FUN.

Video games stopped being fun when they became so focused on graphics, sound, and storyline. Somewhere in the 3D world, people stopped realizing that games were games because they were fun.  They don’t have to be huge immense worlds that leave you weeks of gameplay that is frustrating that requires constant re-starts, save points, and so forth.

Left 4 Dead is a great arcade-link first person shooter that makes me remember how fun the early days of Team Fortress and Counter Strike were.  Simple, fun, run and gun game that makes you scream for help and use teamwork to beat the objectives and levels.

Yeah, the game has only a few levels compared to most FPS.  Sure, only like 6 weapons overall.  But you know what, this is one of the most fun games I have played in a long time.  And I have full confidence Valve will continue to support it with new DLC missions, maps, and maybe even weapons.  They have proven themself to me as one game designer that puts a lot of love into their old games as well as their new ones.

And thats all I have to say.  Go buy me a beer but first, buy yourself Left 4 Dead and shoot ‘em in the head.

Beer is good,

Beer is grand,

Put another one, in my hand.

Can, keg, or a bottle,

Drink enough, it’ll make you waddle.

Wheat, pale, or maybe a stout,

I just want to world to know, so I’ll shout.

I LOVE BEER.
